LSU Laboratory School is established under the name Demonstration School.

Its mission is to provide college education majors the opportunity to study high school methods and obtain teaching practice.

Demonstration School has a total capacity of 100 students in grades 8, 9, 10, 11 and is located in old Pentagon Barracks.

O.B. Staples serves as first principal of the school.

Boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are the only student activities offered the first year and are known as the “Baby Demons,” probably deriving from the name “Demonstration School.”

Ruth Bergeron Simon is the first senior to be awarded a diploma in a graduating class of 7 students.
